Volkswagen decided to modify the ID.3 model and rename it to ID.3 Neo

We know very well how Volkswagen had major problems with the software on the new generation of electric models from ID. series. This is something they want to forget, which is also shown by the fact that they will soon present the renewed model ID.3 with a revised name. Thus, in the middle of April, they will present a refined model named ID.3 Neo. The main emphasis is placed on the latest generation of software, which brings a number of new functions to this electric compact.

Likewise, the ID.4, ID.5 and ID.7 models will soon be available for order as the first models equipped with this software, the aforementioned functions and the new Innovision infotainment system. In addition, all new ID. models now offer the option of powering external devices – from electric grills to e-bikes – with up to 3.6 kW, directly from the high-voltage battery via the Vehicle-to-Load function.

Software and hardware are developed to meet new and future regulatory requirements. This includes the European emission standard Euro 7, then the California standard ZEV3 (Zero Emission Vehicle) and the EU directive GSR2 (General Safety Regulation 2), which aims to further increase safety in road traffic.

New ID. models are equipped with the Innovision infotainment system, which includes a new application store integrated into the In-Car Shop. It enables digital, flexible and vehicle-specific activation or expansion of functions and services. As with smartphones, popular applications from the fields of music, video streaming, parking, charging and gaming are available.

Also new is the digital key that comes as an option for all models. It enables practical access to the vehicle via a mobile device (smartphone or smart watch). The digital key complements the classic key, and communication takes place wirelessly, similar to contactless payment, without the need for a special application. At the same time, there is also a change in the management concept: all future IDs. models have physical buttons on the steering wheel that enable more intuitive control of functions.

New improvements concern the drive and battery areas. The basic ID.4 and ID.5 Pure models are equipped with the new APP 350 drive system with a power of 140 kW (190 HP), which offers higher torque and lower energy consumption compared to the previous APP 310 engines. This, for example, increases the range of the ID.4 model up to 40 km (WLTP). It is powered by a new lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) high-voltage battery, 58 kWh net capacity.
