Splitgate: Arena looks like a dead game, and the developers say: the number of players does not show the fun

The competitive shooter Splitgate didn’t fail just once, but the fiasco was repeated with a second launch in late 2025.

Some seem to be third lucky for a competitive shooter Splitgate.

The first game was popular, but the developers made the wrong decision and quickly went to work on the sequel. Splitgate 2 disappointed unit fans with its new direction and aggressive content monetization, so the team 1047 Games decided to withdraw the brake, and the game itself from circulation. They are back with the redesigned game Splitgate: Arena Reloaded, no they failed to attract even 10% of the players they had before.

Although the game is free to play, the number of active players on Steam has fallen below a thousand already a week after launch. As things stand right now, it’s not hard to guess that the game will be dead in a few months.

However, studio 1047 Games disagrees with that. Xu was approached about the news about the low number of players, claiming that the statistics on Steam it does not give the whole picture of the state of the game.

“Activity on Steam doesn’t measure fun. The stats only show one number on one platform, at a given moment. None of that shows the full picture or what the gameplay experience is like, it doesn’t convey the strength of the community that actively shapes the game. Our team remains committed to delivering the best possible version of Splitgate.” – it says in the address of the developer.
