Actor Ron Perlman has revealed how he took the narration job on the first Fallout for, he says, $40 and a sandwich.

“War, war never changes” – that’s how the famous sentence of the Fallout series sounds, which was spoken by the narrator Ron Perlman from the first game. He repeated the same in almost all other Fallout games, but for his first engagement in 1997, he was not particularly rewarded.
As he revealed in a recent interview, Perlman was paid $40 and a sandwich to narrate the first Fallout. As there were no indications at the time that Fallout could grow into a globally popular franchise, the actor was satisfied with that salary and responded to all subsequent calls.
It’s worth noting that Perlman didn’t record a ton of material for the first Fallout – maybe ten minutes of narration in total. Likewise, he was not yet at the peak of his acting career.
Perlman says that he did not follow the success of the Fallout series, and the games themselves did not interest him, so he never played them.
