20 years ago today, the action game 25 to Life was played, and maybe it would have been better if it hadn’t. It was remembered as one of the worse crime-themed games.
20 years ago, the then Eidos had a game with a good idea, but a very sloppy execution. 25 to Life he brought us two protagonists on opposite sides. On the criminal side, we followed the story of the gangster Freeze, and on the other side was the policeman Lester Williams. In the fictitious city of Las Ruinas, we followed a dramatic story with the motives of family protection, stopping organized crime, corruption, etc.
It sounds good from the description, but 25 to Life was a pretty lame game. It was a very short and linear third-person shooter, without any gameplay features that would make it stand out from everything else. In addition to the single-player campaign, there was also a multiplayer mode for 16 players, but it was shut down very quickly.
Although the game received very poor reviews and remained an example of untapped potential, one thing was positive. Her soundtrack was great and on it you could hear the songs of famous rap / hip-hop artists such as 2Pac, Xzibit, DMX, Ghostface Killah, Public Enemy and others.
25 to Life never received versions other than those for PC, PS2 and Xbox, and cannot be found for sale today.
