The Electric Urban Car Family project enters production with four models from three brands, produced in Spain, with the aim of bringing electric mobility closer to customers across Europe. Accordingly, production of the Cupra Raval and Volkswagen ID models began. Polo, which marks the beginning of a new era for the company and further strengthens Martorell as one of the key European automotive production centers.

The Seat & Cupra factory in Martorello has started production of the two mentioned models, while the project includes four fully electric models of three different brands. The remaining two models are Volkswagen ID. Cross and Škoda Epiq. The fact that the official start of production was graced by the presence of the Prime Minister of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, speaks volumes about how important the project is.

It is an investment of more than 3 billion euros in Martorell. Investments are accompanied by significant changes in corporate culture in order to become one of the most important automotive production centers in Europe. Based on a common platform, the Electric Urban Car Family project reduced complexity and production costs, while at the same time enabling the launch of four clearly differentiated models to suit different customer needs. In accordance with the new inter-brand management model, the company will continue to lead the electrification of the Iberian Peninsula and lead the further development of the MEB21 platform. Using a common platform that increases competitiveness in the entry segment of the market, brings savings of 600 million euros.

The new Volkswagen ID. The Polo is a fully electric version of one of the most successful models in the brand’s history. With more than 20 million units sold, the Polo now enters a new chapter – completely redesigned and consistently oriented towards the future. The new model combines an elegant, timeless and recognizable design with compact dimensions, a spacious interior for everyday use and a high level of quality at an attractive starting price.

The arrival of the Cupra Raval marks the beginning of a new chapter in the history of the Seat & Cupra company and represents the next phase of the significant growth of the Cupra brand. At just four meters long, the boldest interpretation of an urban electric vehicle offers a sporty silhouette and a driver-focused interior that provides a fully immersive experience with maximum space utilization. Based on Volkswagen’s MEB+ platform, the Raval creates its own market niche and redefines urban electric mobility. It comes to the market in three versions, with a range of approximately 450 kilometers.
