Be careful in Zagreb: with a “red” ticket you can no longer park in the “yellow” zone

On the first day of 2026, Zagrebparking introduced significant changes to parking charges for users of commercial tickets, which includes hourly, daily, monthly and annual tickets. According to the new rules, parking tickets are now valid only in the zone for which they were purchased, thus abolishing the long-standing practice according to which a ticket purchased for a more expensive zone was also valid in those with a lower fee.

The goal is to increase throughput

This change directly affects drivers who, for example, by purchasing a ticket for the first zone, have been able to park freely in the second or third zone without additional payment. The City and Zagreb Holding explain that the main goal of this measure is to increase traffic in public parking lots, especially in those parts of the city that are under the greatest traffic pressure. The new regulation is a continuation of a series of changes in the stationary traffic system, which began with the introduction of block parking for tenants at the end of 2024.

Users who own previously purchased commercial tickets, and for whom the new rules do not suit, have the option to request a refund of the unused part of the money. Namely, since the terms of use of the service have been changed in relation to the moment of purchase, Zagrebparking is obliged to enable termination of the contract for those who wish to do so. Parking prices per zone remain unchanged.
