According to various sources, Sony Santa Monica’s next game will be set in the God of War universe, but without Kratos in the lead role.
The God of War Trilogy Remake was recently announced and we know that we will have a rerun of Kratos’ adventures in Greece in the future. However, we do not know who will be in charge of this remake, and there are rumors that it is not a project in charge of Cory Barlog, the director of the previous God of War games
According to the latest rumors, Barlog has stuck around the world of God of War, but will deliver something different with the next game. Several sources mention that Santa Monica Studio preparing an action game which is more similar to Devil May Cry than the combination of combat and puzzle solving in the last two God of War titles.
The rumor from previously reliable sources also says that the main character of the new game will not be Kratos or Atreus, but Faye – Kratos’ wife / Atreus’ mother which we briefly saw in Ragnarok.
Is there any truth in that? It’s hard to say. Earlier there were rumors about a possible God of War in Egyptian mythology, so this is neither the first nor the last rumor on the subject. In any case, Kratos’ voice actor Christopher Judge recently hinted at what Sony Santa Monica’s next game should be introduced this summer.
