Don’t tell Nintendo: Zelda: Twilight Princess got its own PC version and 4K graphics

The cult game The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess has joined other older games from the Zelda series that can now be played natively on the PC platform.

The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess is one of the few Zelda games that we currently cannot play on current Nintendo consoles. There were rumors about a remaster of this game from 2005, but we cannot wait for an official announcement. Instead, we welcomed the PC version of that game. Unofficial, of course.

The thing is called Dusk and is one of those impressive decompilations that run a Gamecube game natively on PC, without the need for an emulator. And since the game behaves as if it were a native PC version, it is possible to choose the resolution, adjust the controls (including playing with the mouse and keyboard) and activate various improvements. For example, playing at 60+ fps, which has never been possible before in that game.

Although the decompilation is based on the original and not the Wii U remaster, Dusk brings many improvements right from the HD version. And as for graphics, it is already available and 4K texture pack.

Dusk is actually just one in a series of decompilation projects for Zelda games. There are already PC versions of Zelda games such as Link’s Awakening, Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask, and more are in the works. Nintendo is probably not happy about it, but for now these projects are successfully resisting Nintendo’s lawyers because they don’t distribute the game itself and the original names of Nintendo games are not attached to the name.
