Although short videos in the form of Shorts clips are extremely popular, some users do not want them in their daily search. YouTube has therefore announced changes to the search filter system, which will allow Shorts content to be simply turned off with one click, to make it easier to find classic videos.
Until now, standard videos and Shorts clips were mixed in the search results, with no clear ability to separate them, even with the existing filters. With the new version of the filter, YouTube in the category “Tip” introduces a special option “Shorts“, separated from the classic option “VideosThis way, users can choose whether they want to see only Shorts content or just standard videos, without mixing with each other.
Simplified search and removed problematic filters
ShutterstockIn addition to the new Shorts filter, YouTube has simultaneously adjusted other parts of the search filtering system. Some filters have been renamed for clarity, while options like “Ratings“ i „Past Hour” removed entirely. The reason for this, according to YouTube, is that these options did not work as expected and caused dissatisfaction among users.
YouTube states that the goal of this change is to simplify the interface and make it more intuitive to use, to make the entire search experience faster and more transparent. Activating filters remains simple: on the desktop version, the filter button is located in the upper right corner of the screen after a search, while on mobile devices, the options are opened by clicking the three-dot menu in the upper right corner.
It’s worth noting that the new feature is being rolled out gradually, so it may not be available to all users yet. If the new filters don’t appear in the app or on the site yet, you just need to be patient until the update is complete, reports LifeHacker.
