Honor Robot Phone captures amazingly well, even beginners can easily create a true masterpiece without any prior practice

Honor has begun warming up the public to the Robot Phone, a device that the company describes as the world’s first robot phone. The official Honor Imaging account has released a promotional video, announcing a phone specifically designed for mobile video recording and content creation.

According to the information so far, the Honor Robot Phone will support functions normally associated with professional video production, including C-Log and LUTs profiles. This means users could gain more control over colors, dynamic range and post-processing of footage, right on the phone.

Honor wants to bring professional tools to the mobile format. Functions such as focus lock, white balance lock, exposure lock and camera movement data should be available directly on the phone. This brings mobile recording closer to the logic of professional cameras, but without the need for additional equipment and complicated settings.

The Honor Robot Phone makes film-quality recording easier

Special focus is on users who have no experience with recording. Robot Phone supports AI automatic subject tracking, fully automated camera movements and multiple preset templates. The idea is that the user does not have to learn complex camera movement techniques, but that the phone itself helps in obtaining a stable, fluid and film-shaped frame.

Honor Imaging director Luo Wei also talked about the durability of the unusual construction. According to him, the first generation Robot Phone model already has resistance to falls at the level of a flagship phone, while there is still room for improvement when it comes to water resistance. Honor claims that this is not a one-time marketing experiment, but a long-term direction of development.

The development of the device lasted a year and was much more complex than it seems at first glance. Honor had to adjust the smaller motors, adjust the gimbal balance several times, and solve torque and stability issues. According to the company, the prototype went through five major iterations before it got its current shape.

Robot Phone will also use the YOYO AI language model that works on the device itself and has the ability to recognize emotional context. It should actively help the user, suggest content, manage connected devices in the ecosystem and act as a personal assistant and creative partner.

According to the current plan, the Honor Robot Phone should be officially presented in the third quarter of this year.
