Sony’s Horizon franchise will get its own co-op game produced by Guerilla Games. Check out what Horizon Hunters Gathering looks like.
Horizon Steel Frontiers, an MMO game, was announced last year, but for PC and mobile – not for PlayStation players. That game is also being developed by an outside studio, not Guerrilla Games, which created the entire franchise. However, Guierrilla also has its own multiplayer game in the world of Horizon, and they just revealed it.
It’s called Horizon Hunters Gathering and is in development for PlayStation 5 and PC, with support for cross-play and cross-progression between the two platforms.
Unlike the main Horizon series, which can boast of realistic graphics, this one is more oriented towards the Fortnite generation and therefore uses a visual style similar to animated films.
This is a cooperative game for up to three players. The concept itself is designed according to the principle of hunting mechanical animals. The game will have multiple modes, but for now the following two modes have been revealed:
- Machine Incursion – essentially a horde mode in which we fend off waves of opponents led by a single boss
- Cauldron Descent – a mission in which the challenge becomes greater the further we go, but also the rewards become more and more valuable
Unlike previous Horizon games where Aloy was the only playable character, here we will be able to choose between different hunters. Each of them will represent a different playing style. Some will use weapons for close combat, some for long range; some will be more agile and sensitive, others slower and more durable; etc.
Before going on missions, players will be able to hang out at the base where they will also upgrade equipment and plan tactics.
The first test of the game will be closed and will take place at the end of this month.
