Kia PV5 Passenger in both 6- and 7-seat configurations

Four months ago, we informed you about the expansion of Kia’s model range to include the electric PV5. It is the first model with which the Korean car manufacturer launched a new product line that is hidden behind the slogan Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV). This medium-sized, one-ton van is available in seven versions. After the first two, cargo and passenger versions, now the latter got a third row of seats. This increases the number of available seats to 6 and 7 respectively. Depending on your preferences, if you choose the 6-seat configuration, they come in a 1-2-3 formation, while the 7-seat version has a 2-2-3 formation. According to Kia’s plans, the PV5 Passenger with 6 or 7 seats is aimed at those who prefer family and group trips, are engaged in transportation and taxi services, i.e. transfers from/to the airport or commercial passenger transport.

Same platform, more passengers

It is still the same model with the same overall length, which is 469.5 centimeters. This car is 189.5 cm wide (225.5 cm with mirrors) and 189.9 cm high, while the wheelbase is only 5 millimeters shorter than three meters. It is also worth mentioning the good height of the entrance (the height of the floor in the passenger cabin compared to the base) of 39.9 cm, which in combination with the sliding doors ensures relatively easy access to the second and third row of seats.

New seat designs maximize the flexibility of the interior. Thus, in the version with 6 seats, 315 liters of front storage space are available next to the driver, or 350 liters of classic trunk in the back, behind the third row of seats. In the version with 7 seats, there is 318 liters of luggage space in the back, or up to 785 liters with the third row of seats folded.

According to official data, thanks to the platform with a flat floor E-GMP.S, an enviable amount of space is available in the passenger cabin. It is said to have best-in-class legroom (up to 104.1 cm), headroom (up to 107.6 cm) and shoulder room (up to 173.2 cm).

The new versions of the PV5 Passenger model come with a range greater than 390 km, for which confirmation of homologation according to WLTP is still awaited. Thanks to the DC charging capacity of up to 150 kW, the battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in less than 30 minutes. The front charging port adds extra convenience, allowing the model to be charged without obstructing access to the trunk. It is also equipped with Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, which allows electric vehicles to power external devices using an internal or external socket. Orders will soon be opened in domestic salons, while production should begin on July 15. Each PV5 comes with a factory warranty of seven years or 150,000 km, while there is also an eight-year warranty for the high-voltage battery.

Additional improvements

The 6- and 7-seat PV5 Passenger trims will be introduced with updates for the 2027 model year. These updates will further improve comfort, usability and everyday practicality. For the PV5 Passenger, these enhancements emphasize the driver experience. A height-adjustable armrest is introduced to improve comfort.

These updates will be applied to the entire Passenger line. In addition, convenience and security are enhanced with features such as Walk Away Lock. Furthermore, there is a flat antenna, which helps keep the vehicle’s height below 1.9 meters for easier access to height-restricted environments.

For Cargo versions, the 3-seat configuration will be phased in according to the start of production, starting with L2H1 models from August 2026, followed by L2H2 derivatives from November 2026, and extended to L1H1 versions from January 2027. Enhancements such as standard driver lumbar support (Cargo only) and composite cargo bulkhead improve cabin durability and separation, while Chassis Cab versions benefit from additional functionality, including towing capability. and the availability of a Rear Vehicle Event Monitoring (RVM) camera.

More than 40 body types

Likewise, the 22 kW charging option will be introduced in stages throughout the line. Selected cargo versions, including the L2H1 as well as the L2 Crew Van, will be available from July 2026, followed by L2H2 variants, walk-through models and cab chassis from November 2026. Additional cargo versions such as the L1H1 will be introduced from January 2027. For passenger versions, the 5-seat and WAV models will also be available from January 2027, while the 6- and 7-seat versions will follow from at the beginning of the introduction in September 2027.

The PV5 line offers flexible body types that include Cargo, Passenger, Chassis Cab, Wheelchair Accessible Vehicle, Light Camper and Crew Van. The plan is to expand the PBV strategy with PV7 in 2027 and PV9 in 2029, which will complete the complete PBV line. With more than 40 different body types, it will deliver highly customizable mobility solutions tailored to different requirements.
