Microsoft just announced Surface Laptop SE and it’s designed specifically for the K-8 education market. Microsoft Surface SE is the first Surface notebook ever made specifically for students.
Microsoft Surface Laptop SE Price
It will be launched at a price of $249 dollars, and it comes full Microsoft 365 apps and support for third-party apps like Zoom and Chrome.
If we look deeper into Windows 11 SE without any prior knowledge of this operating system, the idea of supporting third-party applications may seem strange. Windows 11 SE is an operating system for students, created “based on feedback from teachers“. Notebooks with Windows 11 SE are limited in ways that allow “undisturbed environment“For students.

This is Microsoft’s biggest trump card in the education market lately, writes Slashgear. Over the past half decade, Google’s Chrome OS and Chromebooks have raised a lot of dust in education, especially when students of all ages have started using computers for everyday work – and we’ve switched to remote work and learning, as the reality of COVID- 19 pandemics.
Now, Microsoft has effectively embraced the reality of the situation and announced Windows 11 SE, a version of Windows 11 that will allow teachers and school IT administrators to use computers as a tool to help with the educational process.
As Chrome OS has Google applications assigned, so does Windows 11 SE with the implication that Microsoft applications will be central to the user experience. Windows 11 SE is “optimized for the most commonly used educational experiences“Said a Microsoft spokesman,” including Microsoft 365 applications.
However, it is important to note that Microsoft makes it clear that it does not restrict the use of non-Microsoft applications, but only ensures that there is a certain level of control. They mentioned Zoom and Chrome (web browser) specifically as applications that will also support Windows 11 SE.
