City crossover Nissan Juke will get a new, fully electric generation next year. It was announced at the global Vision event in Japan, announcing a key step in Nissan’s electrification strategy for Europe. This model, which has sold more than 1.5 million units across our continent since its launch in 2010, retains its distinctive and above all daring design in its third generation, but it now fully adapts to the era of electric vehicles.
Expanding the electric range
The new Juke EV model is part of the company’s wider plan to respond to the growing needs of the market and offer an electrified drive for every type of customer. Along with the agility and emotion that the model has always promoted, the third generation introduces advanced technologies, with which Nissan relies on fifteen years of experience in the development of electric vehicles. The official launch of the model on the market is scheduled for the spring of 2027.
The Juke EV will join a growing lineup of electric models in Europe, which already includes the new Micra, the third-generation Leaf, the Ariya crossover and the Townstar light commercial vehicle. One of the key features of the new electric Juke will be the implementation of Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) technology, which it will share with the Leaf model. This innovation enables the integration of the vehicle into the wider energy ecosystem, i.e. will turn cars into active participants in the power grid, which will be able to return energy to it.
European production
Production of the all-new electric Juke will take place at Nissan’s plant in Sunderland, United Kingdom, where the first trial production phase of the new model will begin in the coming weeks. Model development is supported by a wide network of design and engineering centers in Great Britain, Spain and Germany.
By moving to the electric age, the Japanese company hopes that the Juke could attract a new group of customers and further strengthen Nissan’s position in the transition to a future without harmful emissions. Although the company’s focus is on full electrification, Nissan continues to offer its e-POWER hybrid technology as well. Models like the Qashqai e-POWER and the Juke HEV will remain an important part of the range, providing drivers with an experience similar to electric driving without the need for external charging.
