Sony is closing the studio Bluepoint Games, which they bought five years ago


Sony’s studio Bluepoint Games, once considered a leading remake and remaster studio, is no more.

Sony Interactive Entertainment decided, in its immense wisdomto close another of their studios before they made a single game for them. After Firewalk Studios, which they took over in 2023 and closed in 2024, now the studio has rung its bell Bluepoint Gameswhich Sony took over in 2021.

About About 70 employees of the studio were firedBloomberg learns, and the entire studio was closed as a result. A Sony spokesperson said:

“Bluepoint Games is an incredibly talented team and their technical expertise has delivered excellent experiences for the PlayStation community. We thank them for their passion and creativity.”

A strange thank you, in the form of a resignation. And it is even more strange that the spokesperson does not speak about the closed studio in the past tense.

Before Sony’s acquisition, Bluepoint Games was considered one of the best studios for remakes and remasters of games. They launched two excellent remakes for PlayStation: Demon’s Souls za PS5 i Shadow of the Colossus za PS4. Previously, Bluepoint Games worked on the God of War HD and Metal Gear Solid HD collections, as well as Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.

After Sony’s takeover, the team worked for a time on a multiplayer game from the God of War franchise, before it was canceled in early 2025.
