Tesla introduces the AI assistant Grok in its vehicles

As of today, Tesla is starting to introduce Grok in Europe. The AI assistant is included in software version 2026.2.6, which has begun rolling out to eligible vehicles. Grok is an advanced artificial intelligence system built by xAI, designed to provide accurate and insightful answers to questions from a wide range of subjects – physics, mathematics, biology, philosophy, history and more.

Grok is integrated into the Tesla and can, at the driver’s request, trigger a series of commands in the navigation system – to set a destination, adjust the route on the move or search for points of interest. Also, it is linked to the vehicle’s owner’s manual so it can be referred to and provide informed advice on best practices, ideal use, maintenance, how to interpret instrument panel warnings, etc.

It is available via a command on the steering wheel or via the touch screen in Tesla, and multiple configurations or personalities of the assistant can be selected. So there are the usual working modes of Grok such as assistant, language teacher, therapist, storyteller, meditation assistant, doctor, conspiracy theory consultant… There are also working modes for children with telling stories for children, but also games for children. The interesting thing is also in the NSFW modes (only for those over 18), which brings unlimited, sexy, motivational, romantic and discussion options.

Grok assistant can be personalized by choosing different personalities, and five of them are available. So Ara brings a cheerful female voice, Eve a gentle and soothing female voice, and Leo a male voice with a British accent. Furthermore, there is Rex with a calm male voice and Sal, a polite and smooth male voice. Thanks to the ability to adapt the personality of the AI assistant, all travelers can turn their travel time into opportunities for learning, entertainment or more efficient navigation to their destination. Grok is available in a large number of different languages, and his speech is fluent, human-like, with natural expression.

Grok is being introduced and is available on eligible Model S, Model 3, Model X and Model Y vehicles. To enable and use Grok, you must have a subscription to Premium Connectivity or a stable Wi-Fi connection. Conversations are anonymous, meaning they are not listened to by Tesla and are not connected to the vehicle, thus ensuring the owner’s privacy. However, if you drive a Tesla, this option is currently available for models in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Portugal and Spain.
