The creator of God of War went crazy for a 2D God of War game

The creator of the God of War series did not choose the words with which he “honored” the 2D game God of War: Sons of Sparta. He called it a boring insult to God of War fans.

Last Friday, Sony launched a 2D game God of War: Sons of Spartaand one of the first “reviews” for it was offered by the creator of God of War, David Jaffe.

After an hour of playing, Jaffe had no nice words for the game. That is, he says that the game itself is not bad, but that it is not God of War. What bothered him characters take a break from fighting every now and then to talk, and believes that the tone of the game is not affected by the original God of War games.

“It’s insulting how the game fails to reflect the license and brand it’s made under. It’s like getting the rights to John Wick and making a movie where he’s just sitting in a coffee shop talking.” – explains Jaffe and continues:

“Let’s not use a great character that people love and built this series for stuff like this. Let’s not make him out to be some generic, boring little kid. It’s an insult to the fans. It’s an insult to the people who worked on the games – the very idea that this character is what people want. That’s bullshit. That’s stupid. That’s silly.” Jaffe concluded.

David Jaffe left video game development after the fiasco of his last game, the multiplayer shooter Drawn to Death, which had its servers shut down two years after its release. Since then, he has embraced a career as a YouTube commentator and has repeatedly expressed his dissatisfaction with the direction of the God of War series.

Two years ago, he stated that he was not a fan of the more emotional Kratos from the last two God of War games, claiming that in his opinion video game characters should not reflect what the people who create the characters’ adventures go through.
