The iPhone calculator can convert currencies, calories and fuel consumption

The built-in Calculator app on iPhones looks pretty simple, so many users have been using it for years just to add, subtract, multiply and divide. However, Apple has built into it several more advanced functions that can replace special applications for calculations and conversion of units.

Users can review previous calculations, include a scientific calculator, and convert almost all everyday units of measurement, including currencies, length, area, volume, mass, energy, power, and fuel consumption.

The iPhone calculator has three hidden and very powerful functions

The first useful feature is the calculation history. After opening the application, it is necessary to touch the history button in the upper left corner, after which previously performed calculations are displayed. An old score can be reopened without entering all the numbers, and it can be copied into applications such as Messages, Notes or another program.

When the history is no longer needed, individual entries or the entire list of calculations can be deleted by selecting the Edit option. The function is especially useful when the user wants to check a previous calculation or to continue a more complex calculation that was interrupted earlier.

Another option is a scientific calculator. By tapping the mode selector button in the upper right corner and selecting the Scientific option, the standard view turns into a calculator with advanced features. Then the square root, exponentiation, trigonometric functions, logarithms and other mathematical operations become available that can be useful for pupils, students and employees.

The third and probably the most practical function is unit conversion. In the same menu, select Convert, enter the desired value and select the categories between which the conversion should be performed.

The calculator supports currency conversion according to the exchange rate, but also length, area, volume, mass, temperature, energy and power. Thus, among other things, it can convert energy units such as calories and joules, as well as different units used to express electrical energy or power.

Fuel consumption conversion is also available, for example between liters per 100 kilometers and other ways of displaying vehicle economy. This can be particularly useful when comparing European and American car consumption figures.

Although at first glance it looks like an ordinary calculator, the Apple application has grown over time into a much more versatile tool. Thus, without installing additional software, users can find an old result, perform a more complex mathematical calculation, or convert currency and almost any everyday measurement unit in a few seconds.
