The state is preparing up to 15,000 euros in incentives for the purchase of cars for large families

The number of inhabitants in the Republic of Croatia is growing for the third year in a row, with a noticeable increase in the number of newborns. According to the data presented by the Minister of Demography and Immigration Ivan Šipić410 more children were born last year compared to the previous year. The positive trend continued in 2026, in the first half of which almost 700 more newborns were recorded than in the same period earlier.

Demographic measure

In order to continue the positive demographic trend, the state, in addition to its existing programs, is also announcing a measure that has never been seen before in Croatia. It will be a new specific financial support aimed at families with a larger number of children, Minister Šipić announced on Nova TV.

The new measure will enable the co-financing of the purchase of a vehicle with seven seatsand only families with four or more children. The amount of support will amount to 15,000 euroswith defined census conditions. Therefore, it will not be equal for well-to-do and less wealthy families.

The official presentation of this measure was announced for the period after the last session of the Government before the summer break, and the minister recommended that families planning to buy a car in the fall postpone this decision for a short time – because the Government could “step in” with a financial incentive.
