During its first three days of release, the Super Mario Galaxy movie earned 122 million US dollars from screenings around the world, which has already covered the film’s production budget.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise – after all, the first Super Mario Bros. the film was the second most watched film in 2023. Admittedly, that one still had good reviews, which can’t really be said for the Super Mario Galaxy it got pretty bad reviews from critics.
However, it is clear that young viewers are the target audience of this film, and they are not bothered by what some critics think about the film.
Basically, it seems that Super Mario will once again rule the cinemas, at least until the summer when some new hits are coming that are expected to be even more successful. As for Nintendo and their film partners, there’s no doubt they’ll stop there. Actor Jack Black has already jokingly stated that the third film will arrive in 2028, which would not be strange at all.
