Xenoblade Genesis will be a new Switch 2 exclusive for 2027.

Nintendo had a lot of news for fans of the Xenoblade series at today’s Direct. Existing games have received technical improvements for the Switch 2, with Xenoblade Genesis coming next year.

We will once again run through the green fields of the Xenoblade series. A new game for Nintendo Switch 2 is being prepared for 2027 – Xenoblade Genesis.

In the tradition of the series, this Xenoblade will also have completely new characters and will be set in a new location. That new location feels like it’s the interior of a planet, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be claustrophobic. Apparently, we will have an open world at our disposal, in which we will move around and on various creatures.

More details about Xenoblade Genesis will be shared in the future, Nintendo says.

But that wasn’t all the news related to Xenoblade at today’s Nintendo Direct. Existing Xenoblade Chronicles games will get their own versions for the Nintendo Switch 2. The games will run in 4K resolution at 60 frames per second. Unfortunately, the upgrade to the Switch 2 version will not be free, but will be charged €10 per game.

Xenoblade Chronicles 1 for NS2 will be available today, XC2 will follow on 10/1 and the third installment on 12/3 this year. All these games in the versions for Switch 2 will be available both digitally and in physical edition.
