The German manufacturer has presented the second generation of its multifunctional vehicle 2022 Mercedes-Benz Citan Van, which it be available in passenger and cargo versions.
The first-generation Mercedes Citan appeared in 2012 and was based on the Renault Kangoo model.
It is similar to the new version, which also shares the basis with the French multifunctional car.
Customers will be offered the Tourer (passenger) and Furgon (cargo) versions with SUS engines, and in 2022 they will be joined by the electric eCitan.
Specs
Although based on the Kangoo model, the new 2022 Mercedes-Benz Citan has a distinctive “Mercedes” front end, with headlights, a mask, and a badge characteristic of the Stuttgart models.
The length of the vehicle is 4,498 mm, while the wheelbase is a generous 2,716 mm. A version with an extended wheelbase and larger cargo space will also be offered later.
Citan Van has a flexible compartment for cargo space, so it is possible to transport items up to 3.05 m long.
The total usable volume of the cargo area is 2.9 m3, and Mercedes states that two Euro pallets can be inserted into the Van.
The towing capacity of the vehicle is 1.5 tons.

2022 Mercedes-Benz Citan Interior
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz Citan interior design differs from that of the Renault Kangoo, and the richer versions have a centrally located 7-inch screen of the multimedia system, while the instrument panel is analog and contains a small trip computer display in the middle.

2022 Mercedes-Benz Citan Engine
The Citan Tourer will be available with one diesel and two gasoline variants, while the Furgon will be expanded with two more diesel options.
Both gasoline engines are 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engines, and options are available with 102 hp (75 kW) and 200 Nm, or 131 hp (96 kW) and 240 Nm, respectively.
The only diesel engine in the passenger version is a four-cylinder 1.5-liter with 95 hp (70 kW) and 260 Nm.

When it comes to the cargo Furgon, in addition to the mentioned diesel, customers will be able to choose between two more diesel variants, the same working volume.
The weakest version produces 75 hp (55 kW) and 230 Nm, and the most powerful 116 hp (85 kW) and 270 Nm.
In terms of luggage space dimensions, payload, and equipment availability, customers do not have to make concessions compared to a vehicle equipped with a conventional engine. Even the trailer hitch will be available for eCitan, Mercedes promises.

Release Date
Mercedes will start accepting orders for the new Citan from mid-September 2021.
