The first visuals of the BMW X5 xDrive40e 2016 remind one of the 2015 models. By looking closer, however, fine modifications can be detected. In 2015, BMW revealed its intention of using a 2-liter turbocharged engine equipped with 4 cylinders for its upcoming models. This engine is to be supported by a motor of 70 kilowatts, which is powered by a li-ion battery pack and is expected to give 95 horsepower.

Based on data, this type of engine tested on other models of cars has produced 240 horsepower with the torque of 369 lb-ft. As per BMW, the engine, if used on their future models including X5 xDrive40e, can give a speed of 130 miles/hr. However, on electric engines, it will give close to 75 miles/ hr. and can cover not less than 19 miles. EPA says it will provide 50 mpg. Even when run on the gasoline engine, the CO2 emissions are lower than 90 grams/km. The concept seems favorable and until the German maker confirms, car enthusiasts can hope that the vehicle will actually come up with these results.

Pricing and Date of Release

The 2016 BMW X5 xDrive40e vehicle will go into production in early 2015 and will be available in the second half. Until now, it is priced close to $60,000.
