Grounded – dear, I have reduced the children

Six years ago today, the unexpected success of the Obsidian Entertainment development team was played – a game called Grounded.

Development team Obsidian Entertainment is known for its role-playing hits such as Fallout: New Vegas and The Outer Worlds. However, their most successful game is a survival title called Groundedwhich first appeared on this day in 2020.

Grounded put players in an unusual situation four teenagers who have shrunk to the level of insects. An American garden thus became a place where children had to survive violent ants, spiders and other insects, and then seek help in the form of science.

Grounded was a small project that was initially worked on only 13 people. It was launched in the early access version with only 20% of the total content, but the players immediately accepted it well. The game was enjoyable to play and had a high level of customizable options. For example, it could be played from first or third person, and there was even an arachophobia mod that removed spiders from the game.

The game was initially available on PC and Xbox, where it attracted five million players in its first year. Two years later it was launched in full, and in 2024 it became available on the PlayStation and Nintendo Switch platforms. After all those versions, Grounded managed to draw even 20 million players.

A TV series based on this game was immediately announced, but it got stuck somewhere. The continuation of Grounded is expected in 2025, and it is currently in the early access phase.
