BMW has released a teaser video announcing the upcoming promotion of the second-generation M2 Coupe (marked G87), whose production, according to earlier announcements, will start later this year.
BMW has not yet announced the premiere date of the new M2, but it should be recalled that earlier this year’s edition of the Goodwood Festival of Speed (2022 Goodwood Festival Of Speed, June 23-26), BMW Motorsport will celebrate its 50th anniversary, including with the promotion of the new M model. BMW has not yet announced which new M model will debut in Goodwood, but there are several possibilities.
One of those possibilities is the second generation M2 Coupe. As things stand now, the new M2 Coupe will have a 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo engine with around 450hp, a 6-speed manual or 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive only.
Production of the new M2 will take place at BMW’s San Luis Potosi plant in Mexico, along with the new Series 2 Coupe and Series 3.
