Citroën has revealed the ELO, a new concept car that serves as a laboratory of ideas and embodies the brand’s vision for the future of mobility. With its compact length of 4.1 meters, the ELO is similar in size to the ë-C3, but thanks to a dedicated 100% electric platform with a motor on the rear axle, it offers a more spacious interior, capable of accommodating up to six people. Designed, they say, as a “response to contemporary challenges”, this car will not only serve as a means of transport, but should offer a modular living space adapted to urban environments, but also an occasional escape to nature.
The interior of the vehicle is designed around three key aspects: rest, fun and work, which is also the meaning of the name ELO – Rest, Plyes, Work – but instead of the first letters, the second letters of those words are used in the acronym. Don’t worry, we don’t understand either… The standard configuration offers four seats with a centrally positioned driver, ensuring 180° visibility and a unique driving experience. The driver’s seat can be rotated 360° for interaction with passengers or work, and if necessary, two additional seats can be pulled out from the floor, increasing the capacity to six people.
Modularity and comfort
The ELO concept redefines being in a car by enabling a complete transformation of the interior, so the vehicle can be turned into a bedroom for two or a private cinema. There are two mattresses in the trunk, which are inflated with a compressor integrated into the vehicle, while the rear lights become night lamps. For business purposes, the vehicle functions as a mobile office with a rotating seat, a laptop table and a video conferencing system that is projected onto the windshield.
Instead of classic screens, ELO uses an innovative system of projecting information onto a transparent strip across the entire width of the windshield, which increases safety and reduces production costs. The interior design, inspired by the “C-Zen Lounge” philosophy, is devoid of the classic instrument panel, and control is done via an unusual rectangular steering wheel. Inevitable sustainability is achieved by using recycled materials to a large extent.
Innovative strategic partnerships
In the development of this concept, Citroën teamed up with partners who share a vision of functionality and sustainability, the companies Decathlon and Goodyear. Decathlon’s design team contributed to the development of practical accessories and materials, such as removable rear seats that can be used as picnic chairs or external equipment racks.
On the other hand, Goodyear has developed smart tires for ELO equipped with sensors that monitor pressure and wear in real time, signaling the status via LED lights on the rims. These tires are designed for all-round use, from city driving to off-road excursions, with a robust profile that ensures good grip.
The world premiere of the ELO concept is scheduled for the Brussels Motor Show on January 9, 2026.
