
On Ulica Hrvatske Republike in Osijek, this Tuesday, at around 1:05 p.m., an unusual traffic accident took place involving a 90-year-old electric scooter driver who was traveling on the sidewalk with this personal vehicle. Arriving at the marked pedestrian crossing, the police officer from the Osijek-Baranja Police Department did not stop at the red light, but continued to cross the roadway of Ulica Hrvatske Republike and hit a passenger car – driven by a 70-year-old man.
Accumulated almost 500 euros in fines
The driver of the electric scooter fell on the road and suffered minor injuries, and the police note that he was not wearing a protective helmet. The presence of alcohol in the blood was not detected by the breathalyzer of both drivers.
For causing a traffic accident, the 90-year-old receives a notice of a committed violation with a fine of 390 euros, a fine of 30 euros for not using a helmet, a fine of another 30 euros for driving a scooter on a surface not intended for electric scooters, and another 30 euros for not obeying traffic lights.
