Samsung is planning to offer 45W fast charging on its phones

One of the areas in which Samsung lagging behind other Android OEMs is fast charging. While OEMs like Xiaomi have already commercialized fast 120W charging, Samsung’s latest and best flagship models are still at just 25W. However, there are rumors that this could finally change with the Galaxy S22 series. Now, a new report suggests that the South Korean giant will also refresh its line charger.

According to WinFuture, Samsung plans to launch two new fast chargers. The first is the Samsung Power Adapter Trio (EP-T6530), while the second is called the Samsung 45W US Type-C Power Adapter (EP-T4510).

The Power Adapter Trio has three ports, allowing users to charge three devices simultaneously. Of the three, two are C-type USB ports, while the third is USB-A. The first Type-C port offers a maximum output power of 65W, while the second and third ports have a maximum power of 25W and 15W, respectively.

We assume that the 65W option is for Samsung Chromebooks and Windows laptops, because none of the Samsung phones on the market currently support 65W fast charging, and at the same time we have no evidence that the upcoming Galaxy S22 series will support fast charging of that power.

Speaking of the EP-T4510 power adapter, it will offer power up to 45W and has a USB Type-C port. The 45W charger is probably for Samsung’s upcoming flagship models and is linked to rumors that the Galaxy S22 Ultra supports fast charging up to 45W. Note that Samsung has stopped supplying the charger with its top models in most markets. Even if the new 45W charger is for the Galaxy S22 series, Samsung will most likely not offer it with phones in the box. It will probably be part of a special purchase.

While the Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 10+ actually supported 45W charging, Samsung regressed and reduced the charging speeds of the following models – Galaxy S21 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 series – which reached 25W.
