What was a rumor this morning is now officially confirmed information: PlayStation 5 consoles will go up in price by as much as one hundred euros.
It’s true – PlayStation 5 is getting more expensive. And quite a lot.
Sony has just confirmed that from April 2nd of this year, it will raise the prices of all models of PlayStation 5 consoles by one hundred euros. The new prices on the European market will be as follows:
- PlayStation 5 Standard – 649,99€
- PlayStation 5 Digital Edition – 599,99€
- PlayStation 5 Pro – 899€
In addition to PS5 consoles, the price of the PlayStation Portal add-on will increase by €30, which will now cost €249.99.
Let’s remember, five years ago PlayStation 5 initially cost €399 for the Digital model and €499 for the Standard model. This is already the second increase in the price of the console so far.
Sony cites “pressures in the global economy” as the reason for the price increase, which translates to a global memory shortage thanks to AI centers.
