Legendary Japanese game designer Yoshihisa Kishimoto, creator of the popular Kunio-kun and Double Dragon series, has died at the age of 64.
He passed away at the beginning of this month Yoshihisa Kishimotocreator of the once popular series Double Dragon and Kunio-kun. The news of his death at the age of 64 was confirmed by his son.
Kishimoto spent the most successful period of his career in the gaming industry at Technos Japan. He was still developing games from the mid-eighties until 2017.
His series Double Dragoncreated way back in 1987, is still relevant today (last year we got a new game), and even had a film adaptation in 1994.
Fame was gained by Kunio-kun gameswhich were not initially translated for Western markets, but players overcame the language barrier and enjoyed them. Kunio-kun, or River City, as it is called in the West, has so far had more than 30 titles and, in addition to tabacin, has covered various sports – from football, basketball to border guards.
His soccer series Kunio-kun’s Nekketsu Soccer League, or Goal, was popular in our area in the 90s, which in 1990 was Nintendo’s soccer game for the then world soccer championship.
