Toyota temporarily stoped production at five Japanese factories in January

Toyota said it would suspend production at five factories in Japan in January due to supply chain problems, chip shortages and the covida-19 pandemic.

The suspension will disrupt the production of about 20,000 vehicles, but will not affect the planned annual target of nine million vehicles, said the largest Japanese car manufacturer.

Toyota said last week that it was forecasting a larger drop in vehicle production in North America in January, to 50,000 units, due to supply chain problems.

Problems in the supply chain have affected many world car manufacturers, and this is especially true for the supply of chips and other electronic components.
