2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R is a super car that has been specially designed for the racetracks. With this model, Ford will make its name as the first ever car maker to make carbon filter wheels as standard. The car will compete with Chevrolet Camaro Z28 and Dodge Challenger SRT.

A look at the car will tell you that it is a bold aggressive body styling. The exterior is inspired from the GT350. It has the same rear diffuser, turbulence-lowering fender vents and vented wheel wells. However, the company has given the present model its distinct appearance by providing it with a redesigned front splitter, carbon-fiber rear wing and underbelly belly panels. It is being called the most track-centered car and that has been proved by the offered rear wing. It allows the center of pressure of the car to shift towards the rear making it a monster on the tracks. The front fenders have been graced with GT350R badging.

The interior stands out because of the absence of rear seats, sound system, air-conditioning and the rearview camera. Such move has been taken to lower the weight of the car. With a similar view, the trunk carpet and floorboard have also been taken away. Among other noticeable features are the special badging at places, bright red stitching and a flat-bottom steering wheel that has a red center mark.

The vehicle uses the same engine that made its introduction in the GT350 in 2014. It is fitted with 5.2 liter flat-plane crank dual-overhead-cam V-8 that generates greater than 500 horsepower and torque of 440 lb.-ft. Lightweight 6-speed manual transmission is there and a bespoke Torsen limited-slip differential is used for transferring power to the rear wheels. Acceleration from 0-60 mph is achieved in less than 4 seconds while the top speed is more than 170 mph. The actual output is yet to be confirmed.

The mileages offered by the present GT lineups are 15/25 mpg for city/highway. It is estimated that this vehicle will give lesser mileage than that.

Price and Release Date

As per rumors, the car will cost above $60,000 and it may arrive in the US markets in late 2015. It is expected to be inexpensive than BMW M4. It will probably be unveiled in the Detroit auto show.

The car has been designed with the race tracks in mind. The exterior has an aggressive styling with speed-optimizing features. 2016 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R is being hailed as the meanest mustang to have ever graced the tracks.
