The biggest action adventures we will play in 2026.

Action adventures in the new year definitely have one of the strongest and most exciting lineups, led by the most anticipated game of the year.

Action adventures usually form the so-called “blockbuster” genre, which could be especially true in 2026. The games on this list are expected to be a notable commercial success, partly because some of them belong to well-known franchises that are popular outside the world of video games. On the other hand, there are also some completely original titles, remakes of old classics, and then games that have been in development for (too) long.

Any way you look at it, this list has the strongest heroes, the most ambitious titles, and potential contenders for the best games of the year. It is therefore difficult to ignore such a lineup.

Grand Theft Auto VI

19. 11. 2026. PlayStation 5, Xbox Series

What to say about the most anticipated game of last year, this year, and maybe next? We have the date, we know the location and the main characters, but everything else is under open question marks. How will consoles handle this game? When will the PC version? What will happen to GTA Online? How much will GTA 6 cost? We don’t know any of that yet, but the answers are coming soon. I guess. So far, GTA has had stories about the rise of the crime scene, stories about neighborhood brotherhood, ballads of immigrants and whatever was in the top five. Now it’s the turn of the love theme, and we are keenly interested in which direction it will go.

007 First Light

27. 05. 2026. PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2

007 is a franchise with huge potential for the video game world, but almost all of the James Bond games we’ve had so far have mostly relied on movies and stories that have already been told. We will not have such a case with 007 First Light, a game that will be a completely original story about the young Bond. This already arouses optimism, and we hope for a variety of gameplay thanks to the fact that the IO Interactive team normally handles the stealth sections in Hitman well. Plus, it’s an added plus for us that this isn’t one of the Unreal Engine 5 games in the series – as weird as it looks in some areas (eg character models), at least it doesn’t look like every third game made in Unreal.

Marvel’s Wolverine

autumn 2026 PlayStation 5

Modern Sony today is more in favor of multiplayer games than the directed spectacles that glowed and burned in the era of PlayStation 4. However, luckily they have the studio Insomniac Games holding the dam and this fall plans to launch its fourth single-player game in the last six years. After playing it safe with Spider-Man, Wolverine should be something else entirely. We expect a much bloodier and more linear game, which could open the door to a whole series of future X-Men games on the PlayStation 6. We may be running into trouble, but that vision is more pleasing than playing the same live service titles on the next generation of consoles.

Lego Batman: The Legacy of the Dark Knight

29. 05. 2026. PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch 2

Who knows what will happen to the Batman games when Netflix takes over the license and ownership of Warner Bros. studios. The solution to that riddle probably isn’t even known to the Riddler. Fortunately, the near future is still visible, and the Dark Knight, the Batmobile and the blocky Gotham are on her radar. A new LEGO Batman might not sound exciting to you, but it’s a big game – so big that it’ll have a bigger map of Gotham City than Arkham Knight did 10 years ago. Add to that the ability to share fun cooperatively, the endearing humor, and the attempt to combine the plots of all the Batman movies, and you’re well on your way to understanding why this is a great Batman game, even if it’s not just for the big crowd.

Crimson Desert

19. 03. 2026. PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series

There are some games that want to be everything at the same time, and I guess Crimson Desert is the living definition of that. Here in the open world, we steal carriages, climb giants, fly through the air, hunt monsters, play shepherd and when we get bored – go fishing. Okay, these are all more side activities and Crimson Desert is a serious action adventure where you as a character named Kliff save the world from an impending disaster. It sounds like Witcher, but this one has wrestling and taekwondo moves so it’s not really a direct comparison. Especially when you see fantasy mechs. Let’s just hope the games don’t buckle under the weight of their ambition.

Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

2026. PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series

[/su_table]

A game featuring Captain America and Black Panther would probably have been more exciting if it had been released a few years ago, but even now it seems promising for two reasons. First thing, it looks totally cinematic thanks to the last screams of Unreal Engine 5. Second thing, the story of the conflict between two heroes in France in the middle of World War II is written by the screenwriter of Uncharted and Legacy of Kain. If anything, at least those two facts make Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra worthy of consideration, however the game turns out in the end.

pragmatic

24. 04. 2026. PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series

[/su_table]

Capcom’s attempts to launch a new IP haven’t been very successful during the current generation. Do you remember Exoprimal or Kunitsu-Gami? Probably not, but they might have better luck with Pragmat, a sci-fi title in which we follow an astronaut and an android in the form of a girl Diana. This unusual duo tries to escape from the space station, and it turns out that they are a good tandem. Astronaut Hugh is there to shoot and Diana is there to hack opponents. One does not work without the other, and both mechanics are performed in parallel during the gameplay, which is the main feature of Pragmata.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword

2026. PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series

[/su_table]

It’s been 20 years since Onimusha was an actual series, but Capcom is ready to give it another chance. Way of the Sword will put us in the role of samurai Miyamoto Musashi and will send us into battle against demons and other supernatural vermin. Atypical for this time and this type of game is that the new Onimusha will not be a “soulslike” game. The focus here is on an authentic fight for which the moves of real swordsmen were filmed, as well as the specifics of the series through sucking the souls of defeated opponents, where there are three types of souls and each has a different effect on the player.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy

2026. PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series

[/su_table]

Amicia and Hugo have concluded their story, but the game world of A Plague Tale has more to tell. Resonance is a prequel in which we will follow the adventures of the smuggler Sophia from Requiem, and it sounds like we will have more action and less reliance on rats. There is still a lot unknown about this game, but the potential for good fun is definitely there. The previous two games were very good, the developer remained the same, the technology has advanced, so we expect good things from Resonance.

Tides of Annihilation

2026. PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series

[/su_table]

Tides of Annihilation is another gorgeous Chinese game that thankfully has nothing to do with mobile phones. This one puts us in the fantasy world of Avalon, inspired by Arthurian mythology. We play as the attractive Gwendolyn and with the help of spectral knights we prevent the invasion of modern London. This is going to be one of those games that throws so much stuff at the player that it will be a miracle if the framerate stays above 20 frames per second. But if that’s your form of entertainment, you’ll probably enjoy whatever the performance is.

Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis

2026. PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series
READ ABOUT:  Phantom Blade Zero has scheduled a climactic action for the 9th month of 2026.

[/su_table]

The original Tomb Raider got its remake once before. But that was a long time ago, and while we wait for Lara Croft’s new adventures, it will be good to warm up with Legacy of Atlantis. It is obvious that we will get the most beautiful edition of Lara’s original expedition to Peru, Greece and Egypt. But we are most interested in whether Lara will learn some new tricks and get additional puzzles that were not there in the original.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake

first quarter of 2026 PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series

[/su_table]

Apparently, the remake of the most successful Prince of Persia game is coming very soon. However, we still haven’t seen her since the development started from the very beginning. And we don’t really know what has been changed compared to the initial project, which did not receive good reactions from the audience, primarily because of the poor graphics. But if the rumors are true, the sandbox will soon come to an end, and one of the iconic games will get, hopefully, a decent reworking.

Squadron 42?

[/su_table]

Squadron 42 is the single-player component of Star Citizen, a game that raised more than a billion dollars during its 14 years of development. Some believe it’s all a hoax and that none of these games will ever be completed. But the developers believe that Squadron 42 will be ready by 2026… just as they believed six or seven years ago. If the completion of the game is really near the end this time, we are in for a first-person space adventure, with ambitious graphics and a star-studded cast. And gameplay? It’s hard to say what we can expect from it. Let’s just hope that Squadron won’t be just a lobby shop where virtual aircraft are sold at a price of several thousand euros…
