Preliminary shots of the internal version of the Android 17 operating system reveal how the long-announced split display of notifications and Quick Settings panels could look like. The information was published by Mystic Leaks on Telegram, and the changes represent an evolution of a design that has been unofficially mentioned for more than a year.
In settings, under menu Settings > Notificationsa new option appears called “Notifications & Quick Settings“, with two modes of operation. The first is “Separate”, where swiping down from the right side of the screen opens it Quick Settingswhile swiping from the left side displays notifications. Another option is “Combined (classic)”, which retains the previous common panel with notifications and quick settings.
What does the new Android 17 layout look like?
When the mode “Separate“, the notification panel gets a large clock at the top, while the day, date and status bar icons are placed in rounded elements in the corners. The notification list itself, at least in this version, remains unchanged.

Dragging from the right side of the screen opens the Quick Settings panel, which is placed in the upper “sheet” container. There is a small clock, and below it information about the operator, a button for changing Quick Settings, as well as shortcuts for settings and power. Also new is the volume slider, which is now located below the screen brightness control, while an additional button provides access to complete audio settings.
On devices with large screens, including flip phones, split view will be the only option available. The classic unified panel will be limited exclusively to the outer screen of folding models.
Additionally, Android 17 should bring back a separate Quick Settings button for mobile data, with a classic network signal icon, while Wi-Fi retains a separate toggle. Although it is still an early and unofficial version, it is clear that Google is seriously changing the way of interacting with the basic system panels in the next generation of Android, writes 9to5Google.
