Galaxy Glasses will change the way you use Android forever

Samsung is preparing to enter the segment of smart glasses with the arrival of the Galaxy Glasses model codenamed “Jinju”, whose presentation is expected in July 2026 together with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 phones. The device targets a price of around 370 euros, with a focus on the combination of technology and design through cooperation with well-known eyewear brands.

Unlike competing AR solutions, Galaxy Glasses does not use a screen to display augmented reality, but instead relies on voice commands and audio feedback. The system is powered by the Android XR platform with the integration of Gemini AI technology, which enables hands-free interaction.

Galaxy Glasses force the use of AI functions instead of the classic AR display

The device brings functions such as real-time translation, navigation, understanding of the environment and voice assistant. Integrated speakers and microphones enable communication, while a 12-megapixel camera (Sony IMX681) is used for photos and video recording from a first-person perspective.

The hardware base is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon AR1 platform, optimized for augmented reality devices. The weight of about 50 grams enables all-day wear, while the 155 mAh battery emphasizes the focus on efficiency and AI functions, rather than demanding visual displays.

The absence of a screen can limit users who expect a classic AR display with graphics displayed over the real world, but at the same time it simplifies use and reduces energy consumption. With this approach, Samsung aims for practicality in everyday scenarios, instead of demonstrating technological capabilities.

Plans have already been announced for a more advanced model with a micro-LED screen that should appear in 2027 and bring full AR display. With this, Samsung is gradually building the platform, starting with AI functionality and moving towards more complex solutions.
