The Galaxy S25 is one step closer to the S26 model, thanks to the latest beta update

Samsung continues to test new software for last year’s Galaxy flagship. While the Samsung Galaxy S26 series is already available with the final version of the system, owners of Samsung Galaxy S25 series devices are still waiting for the final version of the update. The latest beta version indicates that this may change soon.

Well-known insider Tarun Vats announced that the rollout of One UI 8.5 Beta 7 has started for Galaxy S25, S25 Plus and S25 Ultra models in South Korea, India and Germany. This software is part of Samsung’s test program based on the Android 16 QPR2 platform, which the company has been developing and optimizing for months before announcing a stable version.

Galaxy S25 One UI 8.5 stable version getting closer

The latest update is relatively minor, which usually means that the final release is approaching. Samsung has been releasing frequent beta versions since December 2025, relying on test users to report bugs and help optimize the system before wider distribution.

Like most beta releases in the final stages of development, Beta 7 doesn’t bring any major new features, instead focusing on bug fixes, stability improvements, and system optimization.

Earlier beta versions have already fixed several problems in the system. In the third One UI 8.5 beta release for the Galaxy S25 series, Samsung fixed bugs related to the display of the clock on the lock screen, the list of favorite contacts in the Phone application, and the Now Briefing panel, which was not displayed properly for some users. The performance of the Live Effect function in the Gallery application, which previously caused some users to slow down during photo processing, has also been improved.

Currently, the One UI 8.5 beta is only available for the Galaxy S25 series, which is a common practice in Samsung’s update process. Users who want to try the new version of the software can log in through the Samsung Members app, after which the update becomes available in the menu Settings > Software update, prenosi Android Authority.
