Samsung sprema Galaxy Glasses i Watch 9 za julski Unpacked event

Samsung is preparing for one of the most important hardware events in recent years. According to new information from South Korea, the company plans to introduce its first smart AI glasses called Samsung Galaxy Glasses during the July Galaxy Unpacked presentation, along with the new Samsung Galaxy Watch 9 series.

The news, reported by 9to5Google, comes at a time when the entire industry is trying to find the next big device after the smartphone era.

What is Samsung up to?

According to available information, Galaxy Glasses will not be classic AR glasses with complex holographic displays, but a lighter and more practical device focused on AI functions and everyday use.

These include voice AI assistants, real-time translation, notifications and navigation, camera and audio features, and integration with the Galaxy ecosystem. In other words, Samsung seems to be following the approach popularized by Meta and Ray-Ban with their AI glasses, but with a deeper connection to mobile devices and Google AI services.

The Galaxy Glasses, according to reports from Korea, should be unveiled during Samsung’s summer Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2026. The new Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Flip 8 foldable phones, as well as the Galaxy Watch 9 series, are expected at the same event. With this, Samsung practically creates a complete “AI wearable” portfolio.

Although Samsung leads the hardware part of the project, the device is created in cooperation with the companies Google and Qualcomm. Google provides the AI and Android XR software platform, while Qualcomm develops specialized chips for next-generation devices. It shows that the industry is trying to build an alternative to Apple’s closed ecosystem through multi-company partnerships.

Why AI glasses suddenly became important

Smart glasses have long been considered a failed concept, especially after the problems Google Glass had more than a decade ago. However, generative AI has changed the situation. With modern AI models, glasses are no longer just a screen in front of the eyes – but a potential permanent personal assistant that sees the environment, understands the context and reacts by voice in real time. This makes them a much more practical device than previous generations of smart glasses.

This is a strategically important moment for Samsung. The company already dominates the Android phone market and the wearables segment, but AI glasses represent a completely new category in which there is no clear leader yet. At the same time, Apple is reportedly developing its own smart glasses for the coming years, while Meta is aggressively expanding its Ray-Ban AI platform. Samsung obviously does not want to be late in the new technological transition.

Watch 9 The Deo AI Ecosystem

The Galaxy Watch 9 series may not get as much attention as the Spectacles, but it’s important for another reason. Samsung is increasingly connecting its devices into a unique AI system in which the watch monitors biometrics, the phone processes data, and the glasses provide context from the environment. That’s the direction the entire industry is going: multiple devices that work together as one AI ecosystem.

However, smart glasses still carry issues related to privacy and environmental recording, battery life, comfort and design, and social acceptance. The social aspect is one of the biggest challenges. People have to want to wear a device like this every day – and that’s a lot harder than selling a phone or a watch. If the company manages to combine practicality, AI and good design, smart glasses could finally become the mainstream product that the industry has been trying to create since the days of Google Glass, writes 9to5Google.
