With the wider arrival of the One UI 8.5 update, Samsung has included Camera Assistant apps on a number of cheaper mid-range Galaxy phones, but also on some of its tablets. That’s good news for users who until now were mostly limited to basic camera settings and a much smaller number of options for manual shooting control.
Camera Assistant was previously reserved mainly for flagship models and a small number of mid-range devices, such as certain Galaxy A5x phones. With the One UI 8.5 system, Samsung is now extending support to models such as the Galaxy A37, Galaxy A36, Galaxy A35 and Galaxy A34, as well as the Galaxy M36, Galaxy M35 and Galaxy M34.
Camera Assistant is coming to even more Samsung Galaxy models
Samsung hasn’t forgotten tablet users either. The Galaxy Tab S11, Tab S10 and Tab S9 series are supported, as well as the Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Galaxy Tab S9 FE models. Time Camera Assistant is becoming more accessible to users who use the tablet to take photos of documents, notes, products or fast videos.
Camera Assistant is a Samsung tool for more advanced camera control, which can be downloaded through Good Lock or the Galaxy Store. It does not change the appearance of the basic Camera application, but unlocks additional settings that affect the way photos and videos are processed.
Users can adjust automatic lens switching, photo and video softening levels, manual shutter speed control, additional zoom shortcuts, Auto HDR switch, HDR10+ recording, and the number of photos taken during the countdown. In other words, some of the options that were previously closer to the flagship experience are now available to a much wider range of Samsung users.
However, Samsung notes that not all supported devices will get all the features. Differences in hardware still exist, so some advanced image processing capabilities, as well as functions that require a stronger camera sensor or a more powerful processor, will remain reserved for more expensive models. Therefore, Camera Assistant does not turn the middle class into a flagship, but gives it much more freedom of adjustment than before, reports LTN.
