Two more interesting decompilation projects have been announced, which should deliver unofficial PC versions of iconic console platformers.
We have already written several times about decompilations old games, and week by week that term is becoming more and more common in PC gaming. Thanks to various AI tools, the process of unofficial porting of old games to PC versions for Windows, Linux and Mac has been accelerated.
Old games that were never available on PC get better performance in 60+ fps and up to 4K resolution, support for mods, mouse and keyboard controls… Decompilations are essentially free fan-made remasters which so far manage to avoid the wrath of Nintendo and other companies, given the fact that they do not distribute any files of the games themselves, but ask users to obtain the original versions of the games themselves.
Just last weekend, two interesting decompilation projects were announced.
He is the first DK64: Recompiled which brings the 1999 platformer classic Donkey Kong 64 to PC. Although the game has recently been playable on Switch consoles (with a subscription), the PC version promises a number of improvements, including playing in 16:9 format. It is not known when DK64: Recompiled will become available, it is only said that it will be “soon”.
The second announced decompilation is related to the old PlayStation hit. An unofficial PC version will be available Spyro the Dragon. Although that game can be experienced on PC through the Spyro: Reignited Trilogy remaster collection, this decompilation will bring the original graphics, but in 60+ fps, widescreen performance and higher resolutions. It is not known when this decompilation will become available.

Iconic games such as Super Mario 64, Banjoo Kazooie, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Mario Kart 64, Silent Hill, Perfect Dark and others already have their unofficial PC versions.
