Another attempt by Ubisoft to bring the Far Cry game series into multiplayer seems to have failed.
If unofficial information is to be believed, Ubisoft has just canceled the development of one of the Far Cry games that they have been preparing for the past few years. According to Insider Gaming, we will not see a Far Cry multiplayer extraction type gamewhich Ubisoft did not confirm or present to the public.
However, as much as this is news about the cancellation of a project, it is also an announcement that it is Ubisoft approved the development of another Far Cry game.
Codenamed Kodiak, the project is said to be a first-person shooter in an open world, where interactions between players are the focus. The game is described as very ambitious, but also years away from launch.
So one Far Cry multiplayer game was canceled and development began on another Far Cry multiplayer game – without us ever seeing either of them.
Apparently none of that has an impact on the separate single-player project, which is supposed to be the next Far Cry game in the main series. According to Ubisoft’s plans, that game should be launched by the spring of 2029.
