Crimson Desert just received a major update to version 1.04.00 which brought difficulty settings among other things.
One of the more common complaints about the otherwise acclaimed Crimson Desert was related to the game’s difficulty. Specifically, the game had sudden difficulty swings and certain boss opponents seemed unbalanced. Therefore, the Pearl Abyss development team went to work and worked to resolve those complaints after release.
Now the challenge of the game should be to the liking of all players as difficulty settings have been introduced. In addition to the existing, standard option Easy and Hard game modes have been added.
The Easy difficulty setting reduces the damage the player takes, reduces the energy, aggressiveness and speed of the opponent, extends the opportunity to parry and avoid attacks, and reduces the frequency of counterattacks in boss battles.
On the other hand, the Hard setting is the opposite, and in addition introduces additional attacks for certain boss opponents and slows down the activation of food effects (they only become active after the food consumption animation ends).
In addition to the difficulty settings, Crimson Desert received new item storage spaces, added pet birds, the ability to rename pets and horses. There’s also a refreshed control scheme as well requested interface change in inventory which is now divided into five categories (documents, equipment, food, materials and others).
These are just some of the improvements coming with version 1.04.00 – the full list of changes and new features is quite long and it’s actually impressive how quickly Pearl Abyss responds to player feedback. If this were a Bethesda game by any chance, we’d be waiting more than two years for fixes like this.
