New 2022 Mazda 2 Hybrid will be available across Europe in 2022, it brings Mazda’s full-hybrid technology to its Mazda 2 model for the first time.
2022 Mazda 2 Hybrid specs
The new 2022 Mazda 2 Hybrid is a self-loading full hybrid that combines a three-cylinder petrol engine with a displacement of 1,490 cc with a power of 68 kW / 93 hp with an electric motor with a power of 59 kW for a total system power of 85 kW / 116 hp.
Mazda’s new hybrid accelerates from standstill to 100 km / h in 9.7 seconds and reaches a top speed of 175 km / h. Fuel consumption in the combined cycle according to WLTP is only 4.0-3.8 l / 100 km with CO2 emissions of 93-87 g / km (depending on the dimensions of the wheels 16 “or 15”).
When driving, the vehicle automatically operates in electric mode, offering a sleek and quiet ride on the electric motor in an urban environment, with zero emissions of CO2, NOx and particulates.
During normal driving, power is distributed between the petrol and electric engines for optimal performance and the best possible efficiency. During deceleration and braking, kinetic energy is converted into electrical energy and stored in a high-performance battery.
The battery charge level is constantly controlled by a generator powered by a gasoline engine to eliminate the need to charge the system from an external source.
Although it is a compact B-segment vehicle, thanks to a long wheelbase of 2,560 mm, the new Mazda 2 Hybrid offers comfortable accommodation for four adults, as well as a trunk volume of 286 liters. Available across Europe in three trim levels – Mazda 2 Hybrid Pure, Mazda 2 Hybrid Agile and Mazda 2 Hybrid Select – and offers a maximum of five stars on Euro-NCAP crash test.
The new Mazda 2 Hybrid 2022 is the latest result of a long-standing collaboration between Mazda Motor Corporation and Toyota Motor Corporation. It will be the so-called An OEM model to be produced by Toyota Motor Europe, a wholly owned subsidiary of Toyota Motor Corporation, will be added to the European Mazda 2 model line as a Mazda car.
This is a very important model for Mazda in the context of the company’s commitment to meeting the goals set in its long-term vision of technological development “Sustainable Zoom-Zoom 2030”. Specifically – according to the Paris Agreement – its goal is to reduce corporate average CO2 emissions from source to point by 50% by 2030 and, by accelerating the pace of electrification of its fleet, achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
