Old Gothic games will be available for the first time this year on the PlayStation and Xbox platforms, but at a hefty price. The trilogy will cost – 90 euros!
The fantastic Gothic series has always been tied to the PC platform. It was only after a decade of existence that it set foot on consoles for the first time, but through a spin-off game called Arcania. Then the first two games from the series appeared in 2023 for the Nintendo Switch platforms, and in 2026 we will see the arrival of Gothic on the PlayStation and Xbox platforms. Now we know exactly when it will happen.
PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series will feature classic editions of the first three games, with controller support and some improvements. The dates are as follows:
- 28. 07. Gothic Classic (also available as a preorder bonus for Gothic Remake)
- 29. 09. Gothic II Complete Classic
- 24. 11. Gothic III Classic
So, even though it’s a trilogy, each of the games will be sold separately. And just like the existing versions for the Switch console, it will be insanely expensive 30 euros per piece.
So, games that are more than 20 years old, which are not even remastered, but only adapted ports for consoles, all together cost 90 euros! Insolence!
Actually, it’s just a continuation of the rudeness. You see, Gothic games are in PC versions 100% more expensive last year. Before 2025, the Gothic trilogy could be purchased at a discount for 3 euros (one euro each). After some bugs were fixed – twenty years later – now the regular price of those games in a package is 60 euros.
Gothic inflation, what are you going to do!
