Buster Moon (Matthew McConaughey – The Gentlemen, Dallas Buyers Club, etc.), who has now had modest success with his theater at the local level, wanted to get into the big leagues in Redshore City. Along with the talents he hired in the first film, namely Rosita (Reese Witherspoon – Walk the Line, Big Little Lies TV series, etc.), Johnny (Taron Egerton – Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Billionaire Boys Club, etc.), Meena (singer Tori Kelly), Gunter (Nick Kroll – The Addams Family, etc.) and Ash (Scarlett Johansson – Ghost in the Shell, The Jungle Book) went to town to audition for Sing 2.

Buster somehow managed to convince big producer Jimmy Crystal (Bobby Cannavale – Superintelligence, Thunder Force, etc.) to produce his own show. However, he had to bring in a big rock star named Clay Calloway (singer Bono from U2) who has led a secluded life for the past 15 years and no one knew where he was, including Buster.

So how would the story end? Find it all in this fun musical film about dramatic comedy.

At first I was a little doubtful whether this film would be as enjoyable as its predecessor. But after learning that people like this one more than the original, I was a little excited to see it. And honestly, after watching the movie, I fell in love with it and had a good time. It was filled with a multitude of scenes that warmed our hearts, but also some reviving moments, and in some moments it was so exciting that the audience could not help but clap their hands a little.

Unlike the first film in which the story focused on each character’s personal struggle to get into Buster’s production show, this time there weren’t a lot of them because the focus shifted to how they could make him great. The way Buster tried everything he could to even get an audience with Jimmy Crystal was very interesting and we were obviously cheering for them. There were plenty of funny moments that usually included Buster’s assistant Miss Crawly (Garth Jennings) who was my girlfriend’s favorite character here. Btw, Garth Jennings was the director and screenwriter of this film and the original.

The part I liked about this movie is how the character has to be better in this new show. Especially for me was what Johnny had to face, which was really inspiring (especially during his part in the show which was really fantastic). In addition to the characters I mentioned above, a new cast has emerged that has provided more colors, such as talent scout Suki (Chelsea Peretti – Brooklyn Nine Nine TV series, etc.), Jimmy’s daughter Porsche (singer Halsey), street performer Nooshy Letitia Wright – Black Panther, etc.), Meena’s partner Darius (Eric Andre – The Mitchells vs. the Machines, etc.), singer Pharrell Williams and many others.

During the whole “Sing 2” we will be entertained by many beautiful songs that were a combination of new and a bit old. With Bon included, there would certainly be a few U2 songs that were extremely popular. Despite having a ton of songs here, I felt that this film is not a musical in which singing is often used to communicate between characters. It was sung here only during performances, and some songs were used at times only as background music. And the show itself was really beautiful, with a lot of amazing performances by the cast.

Aside from the fun and excitement we felt before the show, plus interesting character stories, the audience and me were really entertained by the whole film. The sound effects in the studio where we saw it were fantastic even with the standard Dolby 7.1 surround system. I think watching it in the cinema was a greater pleasure because it felt really magnificent, as if we were in the show ourselves. It would have been a completely different experience if we had seen it on the small screen of our TV via streaming.

Overall, this was an interesting and entertaining film. I definitely think this sequel is more magnificent than the original because of the larger cast and even more famous real-life singers including the legendary Bon. I think Garth Jennings is great at figuring out how to make this bigger. Btw, the 110 minute duration was really perfect because it wasn’t hard and it was really fun. There was no middle or post end credit scene, although the early part of the final loan showed a few funny scenes that you could enjoy. So, if you like the first movie, then you will surely enjoy this sequel like the audience and I. IMDB Movie Rating: 7.6 / 10. Release date, December 22, 2021 (United States)
