Škoda Peaq brings more than 600 kilometers of range and comfort for seven passengers

Škoda has officially, after a series of announcements and sporadic information, revealed its new top-of-the-range model – the Peaq, an electric SUV that takes on the role of the new flagship of the Czech car manufacturer. It is an electric alternative to the Kodiaq model, designed with an emphasis on practicality, comfort and spaciousness.

This is also the largest vehicle in the brand’s offer and the second, after the Epiq model, developed entirely according to the new “Modern Solid” design language. With exterior dimensions that include a wheelbase of 2,965 millimeters and an overall length of 4,874 millimeters, the Peaq offers a spacious interior with a seven-passenger configuration. The luggage space behind the third row of seats is 299 liters, while in the configuration with five seats it increases to 935 liters. In addition, the car has a front trunk (frunk) with a capacity of 37 liters and an internal compartment with a capacity of 33 liters.

Rich equipment for comfort

The interior is characterized by vegan seat covers, while leather options will be available at a later date. Light in the cabin is provided by the 2.1 square meter panoramic roof – the largest ever installed in a Škoda vehicle – which has technology for electronically adjusting the dimming level. The multimedia system is managed via a vertical 13.6″ screen based on the Android platform, with the physical controls for air conditioning, volume and door locking retained.

The offer also includes the optional Relax package, which includes seats with a massage function and ergonomic footrests, as well as an audio system developed in cooperation with the Sonos company. That system delivers 755 watts of power through 16 speakers and dual subwoofer in a case of 18 liters. Among the other debut solutions offered by the Czech brand are door handles aligned with the body that are automatically pulled out, a more efficient heat pump of the new generation, a wireless mobile phone charger with a magnetic holder and windshield wipers with integrated washer nozzles.

The car’s exterior design is subordinated to aerodynamic efficiency, resulting in a drag coefficient of less than 0.25. Optimized mirrors, active cooling grilles behind the front bumper, rear diffuser and roof spoiler contribute to this. The front part is dominated by T-shaped lights, while the 19″ to 21″ wheels are equipped with aerodynamic covers to reduce turbulence.

Specifications for the top of the range

Customers can choose between two battery sizes and three drive variants. The initial Peaq 60 model is equipped with a 63 kWh battery (59 kWh net), a 150 kW rear electric motor, and offers a range of up to 440 kilometers with acceleration to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. The more powerful models, the Peaq 90 and Peaq 90x with four-wheel drive, use Škoda’s largest battery of 91 kWh (86 kWh net). The rear-wheel drive Peaq 90 model develops 210 kilowatts and provides a range of more than 630 kilometers, while the Peaq 90x version with two electric motors and a total power of 220 kilowatts enables a range of up to 605 kilometers and acceleration to 100 km in 6.7 seconds.

A larger capacity battery can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 28 minutes, while a smaller one needs 27 minutes for the same cycle. The vehicle supports two-way charging through V2L (vehicle-to-load), V2H (vehicle-to-home) and V2G (vehicle-to-grid) standards, which requires the use of a Moon Power wall charger. Drivers can also drive with one pedal. When it comes to towing, rear-wheel-drive versions can tow a braked trailer weighing up to 1.8 tonnes, while four-wheel-drive versions raise that limit to 2 tonnes.
