The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 is arriving much sooner than you thought

Several retailers have revealed in advance the plan for the presentation and start of sales of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 phone. The new folding model will reportedly be unveiled on July 22, 2026, while the start of global sales is scheduled for August 5.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 should be Samsung’s first wide-format flip phone and one of the first such devices in the Android segment.

Unlike previous Fold devices with a narrower external screen and an elongated case, the new format should offer wider proportions. This would make the folded phone more practical for normal use, while the unfolded screen would provide a display more similar to a smaller tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 brings a wider screen and a 4.5 mm thick case

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold8 reportedly gets a 7.6-inch internal display and a 5.4-inch external display. When the device is unfolded, the thickness of one half of the case should be only 4.5 millimeters, which would make it one of the thinnest flip phones.

The phone should use the fifth generation Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. The source does not provide detailed information about the configuration of the processor, the amount of memory and the capacity of the internal memory.

On the back side, the main camera with a resolution of 50 megapixels and an ultra-wide-angle camera with a sensor of the same resolution are expected. The battery capacity will reportedly be 5,000 mAh, which is a significant increase compared to previous Samsung Fold models.

Special attention has reportedly been paid to the fold of the inner screen. According to the first information, the Galaxy Z Fold8 should be among the best devices on the market in this respect, with a fold that is difficult to notice during use. Its result is compared with the model OPPO Find N6.

A wider folding format is becoming one of the new directions of development of the mobile phone industry. Such a shape in the folded state provides a wider and more natural aspect ratio, while when opened, a large work surface suitable for multimedia and working with multiple applications is obtained.

According to sources, several leading manufacturers are already planning devices of a similar format. With the arrival of new models, this design could become more prevalent and trigger the next change in the shape of modern smartphones.
