Volkswagen announced that their new model ID. Cross will arrive on the Croatian market at the end of 2026 with an expected starting price of around 28,000 euros. It is a new SUV model from the series of electric models, which should fight for its share of the market pie at a more favorable price. This model can currently be seen on the streets of Amsterdam, albeit covered with camouflage foil. Of course, this was done in order to attract more attention, even though it is a serial, almost finished model. The arrangement of its passenger cabin is also hidden, although we believe that there should not be too many differences compared to the ID. Polo.
It is actually an SUV version of the ID model. Polo, which were prepared in a new era by a well-known manufacturer, under the leadership of Thomas Schäfer. He emphasized on that occasion: ‘Models like the Golf, Passat or Tiguan became global successes because they offered an additional level of technological excellence, quality, intuitive management and efficient use of space – always designed from the customer’s perspective. New model from ID. offered is 415.3 centimeters long, 158.1 cm high and 179.4 cm wide. Its wheelbase is 260.1 cm with wheel sizes ranging from 17 to 20 inches. It was prepared on the MEB+ platform, which makes it slightly larger than the version with an internal combustion engine, the T-Cross model, which was created on the MQB platform.
Volkswagen notes that the electric version offers more space for five passengers and their luggage. This can be attributed to the additional 3.8 cm of wheelbase, and the conceptual advantages in the use of space that the MEB+ has compared to the MQB. Thus, the driver and up to four passengers have significantly more space in length, height and width. The trunk capacity has also been increased. 475 liters of volume are available, making the ID. Cross more spacious by 20 liters. To that should be added 22 liters of space under the front cover.
The exterior design is characterized by the new Volkswagen Pure Positive design language, which is characterized by clean lines and balanced proportions. The interior also supposedly brings simplicity with better materials and higher build quality. There are five seats, more space, intuitive functions and physical buttons and large screens.
The drive range will consist of three power options, 85 kW, 99 kW and 155 kW, combined with two battery sizes of 37 kWh and 52 kWh of net capacity. The difference between the batteries is not only in capacity, but also in design and chemistry (LFP and NMC), which led to almost identical dimensions and weight. In addition to AC charging, there is also the possibility of DC charging, up to 90 kW, or up to 105 kW with a larger battery. The expected range is from slightly more than 300 to over 400 km.
