An increasing number of Android phones today come with integrated AI features like the Google Gemini Assistant. However, new research shows that a significant portion of users do not use these options at all.
According to a survey conducted by the technology portal Android Authority, as many as a quarter of respondents never use Gemini features on their phone.
A quarter of Android users don’t use Gemini at all
Almost 6,000 users of Android devices participated in the survey. The results show that the most common use of Gemini Assistant is related to searching and summarizing information.
About 40.06% of respondents indicated that they use Gemini for searching and creating summaries, often as a replacement for the classic Google Search search. An additional 19.89% use AI to write or edit texts.
A smaller number of users use more advanced functions such as image analysis or visual object recognition through Gemini Live. Such a method of use was reported by 13.78% of respondents.
However, as many as 26% of the survey participants, a total of 1,547 people, said that they do not use Gemini at all or are in the habit of using AI functions on their phone.
This result is a real surprise, because today Gemini is integrated into a large number of Google services and applications.
Some users report that they do not have AI assistants like Bixby or other AI services, including Perplexity AI, installed on their phones. Despite this, they claim that they use the phone normally and do not feel that they are missing AI functions.
Some survey participants even believe that the older Google Assistant was simpler and more practical for everyday use.
The results of the survey indicate an interesting trend: although manufacturers are increasingly promoting AI as a key function of smartphones, a significant part of users still does not see a clear need for such tools in the daily use of the device.
