Company Huawei presented the design of the new flip phone Pura X Max. This model will be officially launched in China on April 20, along with Pura 90 series.
Although technical specifications are not yet known, the first images reveal a device with a wider, “passport” aspect ratio. The design is indeed reminiscent of previously leaked information about the future flip iPhone. Thus, Huawei is practically the first to enter the market with such a design, while similar ones from Apple and Samsung are expected only by the end of the year.
The Pura X Max will be available in multiple colors – blue, white, orange, black – with a triple XMAGE rear camera. The back design is taken from the previous Pura X model and is characterized by segmented surfaces with different textures.

HuaweiNovelties introduced to the series by Huawei Pura X Max
Unlike standard flip phones, this model has a wider format, which positions it between classic “flip” and “book” devices. In the market, this form is usually called “passport”, i.e. PASSPORT style. Such an approach is reminiscent of the first generation of devices such as Pixel Fold by Google or Oppo Find Nbut with an additional focus on the flexibility of use in different orientations.
It is interesting that the promotional materials show the use of the device in both horizontal and vertical positions after opening. This indicates a different approach to ergonomics and user experience. Huawei Pura X Max may also appear on the global market, as indicated by international photos of the device.
Meanwhile, Apple and Samsung are reportedly working on their own flip models with similar, wider screens, but are not expected to launch until later this year. Huawei thus, with this model, it tries to take the initiative in a segment that is still developing and is looking for an optimal format. It is believed that the Huawei Pura X Max is not just an experiment, but a series designed to last, writes The Verge.
