Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan has officially confirmed that Intel and Nvidia are developing new products together, which is the first public confirmation of the close cooperation between the two companies.
Tan revealed this information through a social media post after a ceremony at Carnegie Mellon University where Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang received an honorary doctorate in science and technology.
Along with the joint photo, Lip-Bu Tan stated that Intel and Nvidia are currently working on “exciting new products”, but without further technical details.
Intel and NVIDIA are preparing next-generation AI and RTX products
The cooperation between the two companies has actually been going on for some time. Nvidia invested about five billion dollars in Intel last year, and then it was announced that they would jointly develop AI infrastructure and consumer products.
According to earlier information, Intel should develop special x86 processors for data centers for Nvidia, while the Nvidia RTX graphics core could be integrated inside the new Intel x86 SoC chips. The use of NVIDIA NVLink technology for connecting different architectures within the AI system is also mentioned.
According to estimates, the first joint products could appear in 2028 or 2029. At the same time, part of the industry believes that Intel’s factories could help Nvidia in solving the problem of limited production capacity in the market of advanced AI chips.
The collaboration between Intel and Nvidia represents one of the most interesting partnerships in the current AI era and could potentially significantly change the balance of power in the processor and AI hardware market.
